Expansion of office and workforce
To cope with demand Matrix has raised the number of employees from 5 to 8 and trebled office space at e-volve, Houghton-le-Spring. This allows us to answer telephone calls immediately, to send out GP communications promptly and to plan admission for surgery within days of the patient seeing the consultant in clinic. The extensive NHS experience and expertise of the office team delivers a consistent and cohesive response when dealing with patients, GP’s and the various hospitals at which we operate.
Meeting Government Targets
We are committed to delivering the 18 week wait for surgery from time of referral whilst doing our utmost to ensure high quality customer care. After surgery patients are invited to complete a questionnaire, to date 95.8% of responses have been rated as excellent/good, further detail is available on our website – www.matrixortho.com. To meet Government requirements on quality control we have instituted collection of outcomes data for joint replacements and other relevant procedures.
Training and Communication
Matrix is currently embarking on a sponsored staff training scheme designed to optimise liaison with GP’s and healthcare purchasers. By improving communication we intend to raise the quality and efficiency of patient care. We are currently exploring the possibility of electronic transmission of patient data to GP practices via EMIS. All matrix case records are filed securely in digital format. Our website contains information tailored for patients regarding the various hospitals and many of the operations that we perform.
Service Principles
Matrix is keen to develop joint initiatives with Primary Care so that consultations take place closer to home and hospital visits are kept to a minimum. We believe that patients should be allocated a probable date for admission on the day that surgery is advised in the clinic. Timely and efficient pre-assessment will minimise the risk of cancellation for medical reasons. The patient must retain choice of specialist and where possible venue of surgery. Much of the postoperative follow-up can be performed by specialist practitioners outside of hospital.
Website
The content of the Matrix website www.matrixortho.com continues to expand and is primarily directed at the moment towards patient information. We intend to post waiting time and outcomes data on the site as we collect it so that GP’s and healthcare purchasers can monitor Matrix performance. We are open to suggestions as to what other information should be readily available.
