Having your surgery at Sunderland Royal Hospital (SRH) 

You are now booked for your surgery – Pending your pre-assessment.
You will be required to attend a pre-assessment appointment at Sunderland Royal Hospital prior to your surgery. This will give you an opportunity to speak to the pre assessment nurses to discuss any concerns you may have with your pending surgery. They will be more then happy to discuss this with you so don’t be afraid to ask.
 
Your admission letter and pre assessment appointment will be distributed by the admin team at Sunderland Royal Hospital. If you have not received this within a couple of weeks, please contact your surgeon’s secretary at Sunderland Royal Hospital who will be happy to distribute you letter as a matter of priority.
 
Car Parking:
Car parking is available on site in pay and display car parks.
 
Day of Surgery:
Please follow instructions on your admission letter as where to go for your surgery!
You will be met by the ward staff on either Ward D44 or the Day Case Unit, who will then take you to your bed/ward area.   You will then be greeted by the Anaesthetist and the Consultant prior to your surgery, visitors may stay with the patient up until this point.
 
If you are a day case you will discharged on the day of surgery so make sure you have someone to collect and look after you when you leave the hospital. 
 
If you are an inpatient the following visiting times will apply.

After Care:
If you require any assistance with regard to any follow-up appointments, physiotherapy or any other problems that you may have following your surgery, please contact your surgeon’s secretary at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Tel 0191 5656256
