Having your surgery at the North East Surgery Centre (NESC)

You are now booked for your surgery – Pending your pre-assessment. (If you are having a local anaesthetic a pre-assessment should not be needed)
You will be required to attend a pre-assessment at Chester House Consulting Rooms on Chester Road Sunderland. Your letter should arrive approximately 2 weeks before your date of surgery and all details i.e. date /time /directions/car parking and starving instructions if required will all be issued at the time of pre assessment, also at this time you will have the opportunity to speak to the pre assessment nurses to discuss any concerns you may have with your pending surgery. They will be more then happy to discuss this with you so don’t be afraid to ask.
 
If you require a letter of confirmation sooner than two weeks for work purposes for example, you can contact either Leanne or Gemma at the North East Surgery Centre and a letter will be issued as a matter of priority.
 
Car Parking:
Car parking is available on site in pay and display car parks.
 
Day of Surgery:
On the day of surgery you will greeted by the reception staff who will book you in. You will then taken by a member of the nursing staff to the “POD’s” .  This is a waiting area and at this stage relatives will be asked to leave as you will be preparing for your surgery.  You will then be greeted by the Anaesthetist and also the Consultant prior to your surgery. 
 
If you are a day case you will discharged on the day of surgery so make sure you have someone to collect and look after you when you leave the hospital.  
 
If you are an inpatient the following visiting times will apply.
